I've been trying to install linux mint inside vbox but everytime I can't get past the boot countdown and it gets stuck with the initial logo with black screen page. I'm not quite sure what the issue is so I'm asking here.
Vb: VirtualBox 5.0.12
Guest: Linux mint 17 and 17.3
OS: Win 10 Pro
Thanks!

00:00:04.373390 Host RAM: 4001MB total, 890MB available
00:00:05.826653 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000040000000 (1 073 741 824, 1 024 MB)
Memory overcommitment. You need to free up some memory on the host.

Thank You for the reply! Unfortunately, I'm still having problems. I killed off all my programs and brought the memory usage down but I'm still getting the same response.

Code: Select all
00:00:05.496379 HM: HMR3Init: Falling back to raw-mode: VT-x is not available
Is something else using hardware-v? Hyper-v or some virus software as the usual culprits.
Code: Select all
00:00:05.495547 EnablePAE <integer> = 0x0000000000000000 (0)
I would expect you should enable PAE for the guest.
Plus it shows you only left it running 11 seconds. With the above restrictions and booting from the virtual CD/DVD it could take minutes to load.

Thank You! I finally got it! Disabling Hyper-V + less RAM usage + Enabling PAE did the trick
