Upside Down/backwards Shockwave video

My father, who is new to the linux world is having a VERY odd problem.
He is running VB on a Ubuntu Hardy x64 bit install with a Win XP guest. When he views a shockwave video for his training for work (sorry it's behind a passworded site so I can't link it) all of the text/pictures appear upside down and backwards. if you change the encoding of IE to unicode the next "slide" appears fine, but the following again appears incorrectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I can reproduce it going to the same site on my Ubuntu 32 bit system with an XP install
