Error VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR

Post by robert-w »

Hi,

Iam having trouble with virtual box on one host computer which is Windows based.
We all use the same ova file to run a VM at our departement.

One user is having issues that he cannot run his VM anymore. So i thought he corrupted his VM, but on importing a fresh OVA file we get the following error:
failed to import appliance VMv2.ova te importeren.
Could not create the imported medium '*******\VMv2\Support VMv2-disk1.vmdk'.
VMDK: cannot write new grain directory entry in '*********\VMv2/Support VMv2-disk1.vmdk' (VERR_UNRESOLVED_ERROR).
VMDK: could not create new grain directory in ********\VMv2/Support VMv2-disk1.vmdk' (VERR_UNRESOLVED_ERROR).
Resultaatcode: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004)
Component: ApplianceWrap
Interface: IAppliance {8398f026-4add-4474-5bc3-2f9f2140b23e}
Now my colleague said he updated to the latest version which was 5.0.12 but even after downgrading still the same error.
Does anyone know how we can solve this?

VirtualBox will not allow you to install the same VM twice. Uninstall - and completely delete - the existing VM first.
