How to enter the "#" symbol in VirtualBox

Hello Everyone,

I am required to use the "#" frequently in my virtualbox application, but am not sure how to do this.

Could anyone provide some useful advice?

Um.. you press the '#' key on your keyboard? Make sure your guest OS (and the host for that matter) is configured to use the correct keyboard layout (depends on your physical keyboard).

I tried to press the "#" key , nothing happens...

how do I know what the correct keyboard layout is....

With the VM fully shut down, right click its icon in the VirtualBox Manager, select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Post the log certainly, but I'm afraid that the log won't tell us what keyboard layout has been selected in the guest OS, nor what keyboard layout the OP has. Also, the OP is posting in the "Using VirtualBox" forum, hence any discussion of a particular guest or host will be off topic. I'll move the topic to the correct guest forum once I've seen the log.

I only mentioned the vbox.log because every once in awhille I've seen logs which mention a non standard keyboard layout is being used.

Do all the other keys on your keyboard work normally? Key might have worn out? Try a different keyboard? If it's a qwerty keyboard, does the 3 work normally?
On my Windows host, I can use the On-screen Keyboard to type in the guest. Not as a solution, but as a test, does your host's On Screen Keyboard feed the # into the guest?
