Running an USB Scanner on Ubuntu

Post by Jack_VB »

Hi,

I have a linux guest (Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS) running on a Windows 10 host.

I also have guest addition installed on the linux virtual machine.

I cannot have my usb scanner to run on the linux guest!

How can I do that?

I run this; VBoxManage list usbhost
Host USB Devices:

<none>

Thanks,

Jack :(

You need to install the extension pack in VirtualBox. There is a chance it won't work then. Scanners have a tendency not to work in VMs.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. Is the extension pack part of the guest addition found on the iso file or is it something else that I have to download?

Regards,

Jacques :)

You download the appropriate extension pack from here… https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
