Apps crash after installing dev suite on fresh Ubuntu 14.04

Post by UTAN_dev »

I'm trying to set up a Drupal development environment inside a Ubuntu 14.04.3 guest on a Win7 host. I'm running the latest VBox and have installed ubuntu-14.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso on the VM. Everything seemed fine until I ran the install scripts for DrupalPro14, which removes a bunch of software (e.g. LibreOffice) and installs LAMP, Netbeans, and other software used for Drupal development.

The VM ran fine until after I installed DrupalPro14. Now, apps crash all the time. Here's an example:

Being a novice at VMs, I don't know the first place to look to debug these crashes. I also posted in the DP14 issue queue, but does this sound familiar to any of you? Thanks for your help.

Why do you believe this to be an issue with VirtualBox? Just because Ubuntu is running on a virtual machine? Not necessarily. Forget for a moment that you're running inside a VM and you might have better luck if you pursue this in the appropriate forums, i.e. Drupal, Ubuntu, etc.

Unless you know for a fact that it's because your problem is due to the virtualization of your setup...

That's mighty logical. I was clutching at straws. I'll ask on an Ubuntu forum. Thanks for the sanity check.
