I have a windows 10 host and a 64 bit Ubuntu VM. Specy on Windows shows the HW support for VMX. Its Intel I7-5700HQ CPU.

Instructions MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, Intel 64, NX, VMX, AES, AVX, AVX2, FMA3
Virtualization Supported, Enabled
Hyperthreading Supported, Enabled

VBOX I have enabled VT-X with KVM. I still don't see VMX in the guest os. I did the following
1. VboxManage --longmode on
2. Disable enable Virtualization in BIOS (once disabled I was not able to launch the VM)
3. Uninstalled Norton Antivirus.
4. Hyper V is not running. (Can't even enable it)

Update: with VMware workbench (same machine) kvm-ok works.
:~$ kvm-ok
INFO: /dev/kvm exists
KVM acceleration can be used

And you won't, no matter what you do (for the foreseeable future). Nested virtualization is not supported in VirtualBox. The VMX flag is not passed to the guest. See Virtualization inside a virtualizer, discussions for a thorough, multi-year discussion on the subject.
