Ubuntu 14.04: Display resolution size issue(screenshot)

Post by axf5027 »

Hello all,

I recently installed Ubuntu 14.04 as my Guest system on a Window 7 Physical system but am having troubles with display resolution - as shown below.

Things I have tried:
- Deleting/recreating a new Guest Machine with more video memory (now @ 80mb, instead of previously 4mb), and reinstalling Ubuntu
- Tried to adjust desktop resolution through Display Settings on the Ubuntu Guest OS(See above SShot)
- Tried to change the display driver to "Using x86 virtualization solution X11 guest utilities from virtualbox-guest...//..." under "Software & Updates" > "Additional Drivers"

- Tried to run Xdiagnose as instructed in another forum
----- After checking/selecting all Debug options and restarting my System as instructed, my display issue seems to have gotten even worse(See below)

UPDATE: Apparently I am not allowed to post URLs until I have been a member for at least a day and have at least one post so I have had to remove the ScreenShots. I can PM to those who are interested.

I would really appreciate your help with this problem of mine. I'm running out of things to try except for pulling more of my hair out!
Thanks,

-Andrew

Save your hair.
  • 1) remove the Ubuntu dist. guest additions
    2) reboot the guest.
    3) install the guest additions that came with your VirtualBox install ( see device tab in the guest )
    4) reboot the guest.

... or you can use the "Upload attachment" at the bottom of your post form.

Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
