Unable to install host-only networking in VBox 5.0.10/11

Host OS is Windows 7

Since I upgraded to VBox 5.0.10 I was unable to install host-only networking. I uninstalled, cleaned the registry of Vbox entries, and made a clean installation of Vbox 5.0.11, but when trying to add host-only networking, I get this error message:

Failed to create the host network interface.
SetupDiCallClassInstaller (DIF_INSTALLDEVICE) failed (0x0000001F).
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: HostNetworkInterfaceWrap
Interface: IHostNetworkInterface {455f8c45-44a0-a470-ba20-27890b96dba9}

Can anyone help?

Not sure if this will help, but I'm running 5.0.2 (on Windows 7 host) and am having no issues with it. You might try in Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager going into File > Preferences > Network and then select the tab for Host-Only Networks. In that tab you can see what entries you already have.

You can also delete any existing adapters in the Host-only Networks tab and add a new one. If that one adds successfully, then your problem may be resolved. You can add your Host-Only Adapter NIC and it will use the adapter you just created in Preferences.

You can also do an ipconfig from Windows to see what IPs (if any) are associated with VirtualBox. You'll need to have at least one.

Thank you for your input

I have no adapter under the Host-Only VB Manager tab. Whenever I try to install one, I get the error message:

Failed to create the host network interface.
SetupDiCallClassInstaller (DIF_INSTALLDEVICE) failed (0x0000001F).
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: HostNetworkInterfaceWrap
Interface: IHostNetworkInterface {455f8c45-44a0-a470-ba20-27890b96dba9}

When "ipconfig" from windows, it does not show any VirtualBox adapter
