About the video hardware acceleration
Hello!.
Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon the by the installation to Oracle VM VirtualBox, we have to prepare a virtual machine.
When you start a virtual machine on the desktop of the screen, you will see the following message.
◆ run in software rendering mode
Cinnamon is not currently using the video hardware acceleration. There is a possibility that the higher the burden on the CPU than usual.
There may be a problem with the driver or other. It is recommended that you use the most easy-to-use mode.

Re: About the video hardware acceleration
Install the Guest Additions in the guest, and make sure host and guest are both using 32bpp graphics.
If you need to continue this conversation the post a VM log file: with the VM fully shut down, right click it in GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Re: About the video hardware acceleration
I received your reply, thank you.
I have installed the guest additions, but the message has been displayed.
Improvement does not seem to have been made.
However, so not too much trouble on using the virtual machine, even in this state, this remains I will try using for a while.
Thank you.

Re: About the video hardware acceleration
Actually Linux Mint come with guest additions pre-installed. So you would have to remove theirs, then install the official guest additions.
You also need to run this in the guest terminal before they are installed so they build correctly…

Shut down the guest, enable 3D acceleration and try it again.pure wrote:run in software rendering mode. Cinnamon is not currently using the video hardware acceleration.

Re: About the video hardware acceleration
well, if he actually installed the guest additions on top of the pre-installed guest additions that's not likely to work very well. I guess we'll see.

Re: About the video hardware acceleration
It might also be useful to see a screenshot of the actual error message, since the wording given is obviously incorrect. Don't bother if the text is not in English.

Re: About the video hardware acceleration
If the error message is the same as before then there is no need for a screen shot. I see that the additions have been installed but the guest has not been set to use 3D acceleration yet. Enable it with the guest shut down, not saved state and then run the following in the guests terminal and post the results here.
Code: Select all
glxinfo | grep OpenGL-

Re: About the video hardware acceleration
We've run the operating procedure of your teaching(Enable 3D Acceleration et cetera), the message is no longer displayed.
That the problem has been improved, we will report.
I would gratitude from my heart.
