Cant install due to invisible Installation Window

Post by Forum_Fan »

Hi,

I have a strange problem:

I try to install Mint on a Win7 Host. When I double click the "install Mint" Icon, the installation process starts, but after the step of deleting the drive and creating the new partitions, the window is invisible. I can see the Mint desktop, and the mouse changes when I move it over parts where the installation window is/should be visible, and in the task pane there is a "installation" symbol. By hovering my mouse over it I can see the next step in a mini picture (choosing the time zone) and I can even press enter to access the next step - but then I have to choose Username and Passwort which is not possible not seeing everything.

My Host is a Dell Latitude, Win 7 64bit. VB is latest Version 5.0.10

Has anyone had a similar problem.
The same installation on my PC went without problems...

Thx for your help

Please read the following: Minimum information needed for assistance. As a wild guess, shut down the guest and disable 3D acceleration if it enabled.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Thanks for the link. I'll give it a read. And I'll try your tip.

I am just confused, as the installation window does only disappear after the step when I tell it to create the partition for installing.

Ok, I'll give more information later.

It's possible the download was bad. Did you check the md5 sum?

No, I didn't.
But the guest (Linux Mint 17.3 32bit) runs fine in live CD mode. And... I can see the installation window in the preview of the task pane, and the mouse on the desktop changes where the ok button of the window seems to be - it's just not visible.
Never experienced such thing...

FWIW, I downloaded the 32bit Cinnamon version from http://mirrors.advancedhosters.com/linu ... -32bit.iso and the installer was fine so I'm guessing the download was bad or whichever mirror you used had a bad copy. You should check the md5 sum whenever you download an install .iso.
