VPN connection does not work

Hello everyone!
I am pretty new with virtualbox and unfortunately I do not know that much about this stuff... So perhaps someone is able to help me in this issue.
My host System is Mac OS X and the VM runs Windows 10. I need to run a VPN connection on the VM, I think it ist the so called "PPTP"-type. I already have a working cisco anyconnect VPN connection, but I really struggle with the first one. I have tried to google that problem, but I did not found much - or could not understand what they were talking about

I still hope that there might be a very simple solution
I am looking forward to your answers

If you are new to VB and don't know much about networking, it is pretty hard to help you get a VPN working in a vm.
How does the Mac connect to the Internet? Are you on a local network or is it a direct connection? If you are on a LAN I would recommend that you set the vm to use bridged networking. PPTP can have trouble connecting through a NAT connection (which is the default network config).

Hi BillG,
Thanks for your answer. Oh no, so it really is more complex - but I still have some Hope

The Mac is connected to the Internet by a LAN cable (straigt to the Router) or by WLAN. You are right, the default setting is "NAT". I have tried the bridge setting once but I am afraid that then I have to change some other parameters als well. When I only change "NAT" to "Bridge", I cannot even use the internet browser in the VM, als the VM does not find any internet at all.
Is there anything else that I have to set for a working bridge? I would like to try that option.

Okay, update: Got it working!
I had to change the name for the bridge to "en0: WLAN (AirPort)". Though it is strange, that the "en1: thunderbolt" would not work... It seems to be the right option when the MacBook is connected via LAN. Well, at least the bridge works! And many thanks to you for your suggestion, because now the PPTP-VPN works as well

Yea!!

It's not all that strange if you aren't connected to a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.

Which I have... I meant ethernet cable -> thunderbolt adapter -> MacBook. The connection to the Internet works via cable (no WLAN activated), that is the reason why I was wondering.

Oh great. Now I have to wonder why it didn't work either. Well not really seeing I don't have a Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.
