Hi all!
I've recently installed opensuse 11 (64bit) and virtualbox 1.6.2 (incl. guest additions).
I'm runnig Windows XP (SP 2) as a guest. I can see and browse through the shared folders without problems (with XP). I can even write to files and create folders - however, i cannot remove them anymore.
When I try to delete a file, Windows XP always responds with:
"X: cannot be accessed"
"The request is not supported"
(note: that's my translation from german to english)
Has anybody experienced the same problems?
greetings,
john

What are the permissions in the Host system? Do you have full control over that folder and the files in it?

Re: Shared folders delete problem
I know this is an old thread, but I am having the exact same problem when trying to remove or rename folders. This is a WinXP SP3 guest system on a Ubuntu 9.04 host, Virtualbox 3.0.4. I have full read/write permissions for the folder in question on the host.

Re: Shared folders delete problem
I Second the above. I am new to VirtualBox and have been testing it out by simply installing Windows XP as a Guest onto a Windows XP Host.
I shared out a folder and connected it. Permissions are set for Full and I verified they are inherited and correctly configured.
I find that I can create and edit text files in the share with out any problems. I can also delete them.
I can create a folder with no problems.
If I attempt to delete the folder by either highlighting it and hitting delete or right clicking and selecting delete though I get a message that states "The request is not supported." I am able to open the folder and add documents but I am not able to delete them.
And get this. If I create two folders, then highlight both and hit delete. It works.
So this has to be a bug.
I am currently running version 3.0.10
Any Ideas anyone?
