I'm running win 10 64 bit.

My operating system is on my "C" drive.

I installed VirtualBox on my "C" drive.

I start VirtualBox, select new to create a new guest.

I want to create the new guest on my "F" drive.

"F" drive is an internal SSD.

Is this possible and if so, how?

In the VirtualBox preferences in the General tab, change the Default Machine Folder to the location you would prefer. I.E. your F drive. All new guests will be created there.

Moving this topic to "Windows Host" since "Windows Guest" is clearly not the correct place (the choice of guest OS is irrelevant to the question asked).

As to your Q, moving a guest to an external drive is easy. Preventing the Windows host from changing the drive letter - and thus stopping VirtualBox from finding the VMs files - is harder. There is also the problem of the people forgetfully pulling the drive connection.
