Virtual Box referencing old profile when creating new guests

I had Virtual Box running well on Windows 10 32-bit, upgraded in September from Windows 7 32-bit. I wanted to go to a 64-bit system and purchased PC Mover to assist.

First thing was, Virtual Box wouldn't work after the upgrade, as it was expecting a 64-bit instance. I couldn't even run the uninstaller, as it was 32-bit. So, I deleted the Oracle folder and patiently combed the registry to remove anything that was Virtual Box. I didn't remove anything else that might have been hiding under the covers, like the network interfaces that PC Mover may have brought over.

So, I install Virtual Box 64-bit and it hits the ground with my virtual machines are in a Windows profile that doesn't exist. I can't find, in the registry or in any file, where VB references this profile as default, when the system is logged into the current profile.

Where can I change Virtual Box to see the currrent profile?

Thanks, Larry

Can you clarify that statement a little bit? I can't quite figure out what you're trying to say here.

As for the configuration of VirtualBox, take a look at Ch. 10.1 Where VirtualBox stores its files. But, answer the question above and we'll take it from there...

Ok, I see. I should have removed all guest OS before I upgraded. The folder I kept refererences the former location and needs to be updated. I'll see what I can do.

Thank you!

Unless you want to install all your VMs from scratch, don't do it. Simply open VirtualBox Manager, remove the VM(s), but choose not to delete the files. Then, depending on where your VMs are located, you can "Add Machine...", again from the VirtualBox Manager.

So, if for example your old username was "Larry" and your new username is "LarryL", you can find your old VMs intact in "C:\Users\LarryL\VirtualBox VMs". Add each and every .vbox file and you should be good to go...
