Shared clipboard not working

Post by RaresMihai »

This is my first installation of a virtual machine and I'm having some problems with the shared clipboard function.
My host is Windows 8.1 and my guest is Ubuntu 14.04.3 . I followed all the steps and successfully installed my virtual machine, installed VBoxLinuxAdditions, and everything is working just fine, expect for the shared clipboard.
I reinstalled the GuestAdditions, reinstalled the virtual machine, updated to the last version of virtual box(5.0.10), reinstalled again, set Shared Clipboard to Bidirectional (before and after I installed GuestAdditions and even before and after I installed my virtual machine), installed linux headers(apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) -y), installed updates, rebooted the guest and host over and over again, activated and deactiveted shared clipboard but nothing worked...

Any ideas?

What are you trying to copy-paste? The Shared Clipboard feature only allows simple text and some limited graphics functionality. It does not work with files, folders or other complex formats. If you're still having problems, please take a look at: Minimum information needed for assistance.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

I finally managed to do it. Installed GuestAdditions again, by manually running the script, restarted the VM and Voila.
