I'm running Virtualbox 5.0.10-1 on an Arch Linux host with a fresh Windows XP Professional SP2 32-bit guest.
I can access any webpages that use the h-t-t-p protocol from inside the guest, but when I try to access a page that uses h-t-t-p-s Internet Explorer gives the error "Can't find server or DNS error" (not an error about SSL certificates).
E.g. I can ping google from the guest, but I can't access it in the browser.
I created a new vm with a fresh install of Windows and the problem is there from the very beginning.
Has anyone seen this issue before?

Re: Linux host / WinXP guest / Can't access https pages
Have you heard of this thing called Google? The first result when searching for "https site:forums.virtualbox.org" returns this little gem: "HTTPS in browsers in WinXP guest don't work". See if that helps.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

There's a difference between having heard of Google and knowing to use google to search the virtualbox forums with that exact query.
Thanks anyway for answering my question. I'll install SP3.
