No USB on Ubuntu guest

On Windows 10, I am running VB 5.0.10.4061, along with Extension Pack 5.0.10-104061.

I have installed Ubuntu 15.10 in VirtualBox. Most things are working, but not the USB port.
lsusb results in:
Bus 001 Device 001 ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 002 ID 80ee:0021 VirtualBox USB Tablet
Bus 003 Device 003 ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

This listing is the same when a USB memory key is inserted, and when it is removed.

Under USB VB shows
USB Controller: OHCI, EHCI
Device filters: 0 (O active)

How can I configure VirtualBox and/or the Ubuntu VM so that I can use the USB port?

Thanks for any help.

After you plugged a USB stick into the host, open the VM menu and go to Devices / USB devices. The USB stick should be listed there. Click on it and wait a few seconds. If everything goes right, the USB stick should now be visible in the guest.

USB devices are not passed automatically to the guest, this would be 1) inconvenient and 2) a security problem. You have to pass the device manually or you can also create a USB filter matching to USB devices which should automatically passed to the guest.

Thank you, @Frank Mehnert! It's working now.
