Win 7 Guest gives no option for domain logon

Post by Network-Techs »

We've installed win 7 enterprise (64bit) on to our mac running Mac OS X El Capitan (virtualbox 5.0.10).

But it doesn't give us our normal domain logon screen, instead it logs us in to local administrator account.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just to cover the simple stuff: Guessing that you know there must be a network connection between the rest of the network and the Windows guest, bridged is most common to make the guest appear as just another PC on the network.
Also, you no doubt know that a fresh install of Windows has to be joined to the domain, it won't automatically find the domain and attach itself.

, yup understood and all done. Bridged network adapter as well as VM being joined to domain, gets relevant details (dhcp/dns)

One other thing, I seem to recall that on Windows 7 it may still come up with the local login after joining the domain. You have to "Switch User" at the login screen, then type your domain name then a backslash then the account name: domain\name
