Guest Additions installation failure

Post by Polda18 »

Hi there.
I successfully installed Ubuntu on my virtual machine hosted by Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit host OS and all I need is to get rid of small screen - enlarge it a bit. Unfortunately it gives the only one default resolution, anywhere I looked for help there say "Install guest additions".

The guest additions failed to install. Only shared clipboard is what works, everything else (like shared folders or responsible screen resolution) do not.
I have set up maximum video memory 128 MB, without 3D acceleration, which enabled caused me completely black virtual screen, with about 20 GB fixed size virtual drive and about 1.5 GB RAM for virtual machine. I did not install updates for Ubuntu nor VBox, but this shouldn't have an effect to the system, though... Using Vbox version 4.3.20 release 96997.

Okay, here you go. I looked inside, but I'm confused :?

Adding via Firefox inside my guest Ubuntu...

The file is too big (beyond 128 kB), can't add there :(

So If I have Ubuntu 14.04 LTS installed, what Vbox version guest additions (and upgrade Vbox?) should I install?

Didn't you read the ticket? The resolution tells you: 4.3.22 or later.

Installation of VBox latest version wants to reset my network settings and temporary disconnect me from my network. I don't want to lose my router settings. Shall I proceed the installation?

Search for VBox updates by built in feature fails, so I have to download new version manually and run new installation :(
