Seamless for Win8/10 guest?

I've been unable to find an answer that's applicable or current, so I'm sorry if this is answered somewhere....

Has anyone figured out a way to run a Windows 8.x or Windows 10 guest in seamless mode on an X11 host (specifically Solaris 11.3)? Since Windows 8 was released, the guest always displays as if it were in fullscreen mode if you enable seamless.

I'm not using Compiz, guest additions are current, not using 3D acceleration for the guest, and this IS specific to Windows 8 & 10 only. No such problem with older Windows versions or other OS guests. I've seen some posts that imply it has something to do with overlays being used by MS instead of whatever they used to do, but I don't know much about Windows under the hood. I don't see anything in the user manual for VB about this issue. Using VB 5.0.10. NVidia host graphics card, which in Solaris is extremely well supported. If this is a known problem, please add something about it to the manual--unless it's already there and I just missed it.
