Virtual box "Aborted" while installing guest OS.

Post by nitishks »

We have Oracle virtual box version 4.1.12_Ubuntu _r77245 installed on our servers but whenever we try to install Ubuntu ( 64 bit ) on it during the installation processes it just aborts the installation and shows the following screen ( see attached ). Can you please help us figure out what the issue is. It is running on the server that has 1TB of RAM and enough disk space. During the installation of guest OS we tried from the allocated RAM size as low as 1GB to 16GB and disk size ( vdi ) 100GB. The disk was partitioned for 65GB for the / (root) and 35GB for the swap area.

00:00:06.293 Package type: LINUX_64BITS_GENERIC (OSE)

00:06:48.240 !!Assertion Failed!!

Your VirtualBox install is not from here. It is from the distro and since it is a fork we do not support it. You need to ask them for help or remove theirs and install the official version from virtualbox.org.

I can say that the "Assertion Failed" will probably be fixed if you change to the official version and probably to a newer build. Use 4.3.34 if you don't want to go to the 5* series yet.
