Multiple HDD OS Question

Post by virtualmeuk »

Hi all. I am trying to do something that im not sure can be done.

I have a new windows 10 64 bit running Virtualbox with 1 windows 7 32bit OS installed to run my old Software that wont work on 64bit

I want to take the Windows 7 32bit HDD out of my old machine and put it into my new machine and still be able to access it through VB if i need to get to old settings, files etc so i can get rid of the old machine.

So simle question is.......can i prepare the old Windows 7 32bit HDD so i can access it from the new machine through VB?

Thanks in advance!

It is possible by using disk2vhd and imaging the entire drive of the old machine. It is complicated because of differences in the hardware between metal and virtual but it is doable.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Thought it would be simple to do so i may just set them up as a 'Dual Boot' on the machine instead if its not a simple solution.
