Hi all,
I'm running on Windows 7 64bits a ubuntu virtualbox. Everything's fine on this part, except this point :
- Start computer
- plug in a usb device (an iphone) -> windows sees it
- unplug it
- start virtual box
- plug in the same usb device -> windows no longer sees it.
At this point I have no other solution except reboot the computer to be able detecting the device again. In my virtual box I have USB controler enabled (and greyed, i cannot untick it), but even I don't want the usb device into virtual box, only on my pc. It there a way to avoid a reboot each time I will use virtualbox ?
Thanks

Re: Usb devices not recognized on host machine
You most probably have a USB filter enabled on your host which captures the iPhone. Look under the VM settings, Ports, USB, USB Device Filters. See if you have any filters enabled, and disable them.
If you want more detailed help, open a Command Prompt window, navigate to the VBox installation directory (typically "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\"). Run: VBoxManage showvminfo "<YourVM>". Replace <YourVM> with the actual name of your VM. Post the output.

Re: Usb devices not recognized on host machine
Please post a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Re: Usb devices not recognized on host machine
A couple of things I noticed from the showvminfo output and the log:
- You run an older VBox version, 4.3.28 r100309. You could try and update to 5.0.10 (the latest as of this writing).
- You are not up to date with your Guest Additions (GAs):
On top of that, these are not the official GAs, but the ones from the Ubuntu distro. Remove them and follow the instructions in Chapter 4 on how to properly install the GAs.sapro wrote:Additions version: 4.3.22_Ubuntu r98236 - In the log that you posted, did you plug the iPhone? I can't see any signs of it.

Re: Usb devices not recognized on host machine
I'm not an iPhone user - what type of USB device is it? e.g. is it USB3?
