cant open CS50 Appliance anyamore

Post by chun »

hello everyone,

is either the VM Box or Appliance affected if the windows7 copy is not genuine?

because in my case, I cant open the CS50 Appliance anymore.

either the Appliance or Box was still ok two weeks ago, I just noticed that after the
recent update of windows 7 which then I found out that my copy of windows 7 is
not genuine.

I'd troubleshoot the non-genuine thing first, it may be a glitch in MS's piracy checks. Try googling around.

Getting declared a pirate hasn't happened to me before, so I don't know how limited the OS becomes. As to whether the guest won't run, if MS chops off your host at the knees for supposedly being non-genuine, then you may be limited in a lot of things.

Did you by any chance update Virtualbox? Send us a log: Minimal information needed to be able to help If the guest won't start at all, the Virtualbox error window text and the log it recommends investigating would be needed. Zip the files before posting, they'll very likely be too big as unzipped attachments.

And to add to what scottgus1 said, are the symptoms similar to your own CS50 problems from July?

What a memory, Socratis!
If that is indeed the same issue, chun, another update has apparently been hosing Virtualbox recently, KB3081320

I wish... Simply when a user has a relative small number of posts I do a little research on their previous posts. I've gotten a lot of repeat posts like that... ;)

hmm regarding with the post in july.
I did not really follow any suggestions back there because I have not read anything the fits to KB update problems.

It was solve by downloading again and again running and running again the appliance intented to meet an error that is posted error problems similar to what CS50 manual posted so that I can fix it the way the CS50 solution is. And it was successful.

But not I dont know how similar is my problem is to the previous sinece this error message did not pop out in my problem before:
