3D acceleration on windows 10 host

Hello,

VirtualBox 5.0.10 on Win 10 host
Guest: openSuse Leap 41.1 (64-bit)

3D acceleration, if enabled in the VirtualBox gui, freezes the guest system. Without 3D acceleration, openGL is not activated (is this correct?).

Running e;g; kmenuedit in the guest gives the error:

Code: Select all

QCoreApplication::arguments: Please instantiate the QApplication object first
false
true
true
pci id for fd 8: 80ee:beef, driver (null)
libGL error: core dri or dri2 extension not found
libGL error: failed to load driver: vboxvideo
This seems to mean that openGL is not activated.

Is there any way of activating it?

Help would be greatly appreciated

OpenGL can only be "activated" on a host which has OpenGL drivers installed. Google for OpenGL diagnostics and reporting test apps, I'm sure they exist. That way you can verify the version and exercise a few of the functions.
