I'm reporting on W10/W10 configurations using W10 10586.3 and VMBox 5.0.10
4 weeks ago, mpack has posted in a reply to a complaint, that Copy/Paste and Drag/Drop of files has never been supported. This is a confusing message. Trying Drag/Drop from the guest starts a "Dropping message" of VMBox in the Guest and both desktops are locked for a while. Finally the Drop has to be cancelled. Copy/Paste actually does not work for me, because a "Copy" on the guest is not recognized in the Host and vice versa.
I think, that copying/dragging files is an important file handling functionality. Its part of the basic UI design principles of Windows. With W10 this has even been improved a little by showing new status fly-ins during the copying process.
These are my questions:
1. Are these 2 UI features in VMBox supported or not?
2. If supported, what is the status of the features?
Copy/paste and Drag/Drop of files

Copy/paste and Drag/Drop of files

Re: Copy/paste and Drag/Drop of files
Moved to "Suggestions".
You haven't provided a link. Where did I lump these two unconnected subjects together?
Drag and drop support was recently added (v5.0). Naturally if you read old pre 5.0 posts then they will say that drag and drop is not supported.
Copy and paste can only be used to copy text and graphics as live objects. This can't be used to copy files. I'm not aware of any plans to change this, but then again the devs don't discuss their future plans.

sorry. I read your post "4. Sep 2008, 16:09" where a poster asked for Copy/Paste of files. So I misinterpreted your statement because from a users point of view these 2 UI functions are not that unconnected as a developer sees it when looking at the really unrelated APIs. The next time, I'll read your messages more accurately
Nevertheless, Drag/Drop from W10 guest to W10 host does not work for me. What data do you need to analyze this problem I have?
Best regards

Re: Copy/paste and Drag/Drop of files
(Moving this topic back to Windows Hosts since it is no longer implicitly requesting a new feature).
4th September 2008 was the date I joined this site as a noob VirtualBox user. I doubt that I posted anything of great value on that date, and certainly nothing on this subject. The date of a post is positioned above the post. The panel on the right shows a brief user profile.
As to analyzing your problem, you could start by posting a VM log file: with the VM fully shut down, right click it in GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.
