Connecting USB Device That Is Not Recognized by MacBook

Hello everyone. Thanks in advance for reading my query.

I am running Windows 7 as guest on my MacBook Air with Version 10.11.1 of El Capitan.

I am using Windows to calibrate a device used for video gaming, allowing you to utilize any controller you want on any system. Great for testing and such. The device is called CronusMax Plus. I have successfully gotten the guest to recognize the device, no problems there. However, the device has two "modes" and I cannot get the second mode to attach.

When I put the device into the second mode and navigate to the USB settings and try to click it, I immediately get a failure message saying that VirtualBox cannot mount the device because it is not connected to the host. I should mention I also attempted to add a filter for the device in this second mode.

VirtualBox recognizes the device in the second mode, but for some reason the host does not.
In my system information on the host the second mode is listed only as "composite device".
I"m a little lost here, and looking everywhere for a solution to my unique issue. Any help anyone may be able to give me is greatly appreciated!
