Win 7 host - XP guest - VERR_INTERNAL_ERROR

Post by flowe »

Hi,
Without obvious reason and any changes, I get the following msg.:
15-11-15 VirtualBox - failure.jpg
15-11-15 VirtualBox - failure.jpg (54.39 KiB) Viewed 761 times
System otherwise works very well - no adapter for direct internet access installed - nor very familiar with VB - only open applications are keepass and notepad++
Most thankfull for your help - flowe

It looks like the virtual network drivers have not been installed - in which case it's likely that no drivers were installed - probably because you didn't use "Run as administrator" when running the installer, or else you have security wound up so high that your aren't able to install drivers regardless.

VirtualBox has been installed on W7-64 in May 2014 and I used it often and it worked stably ever since. Host only adapter was the only one installed. Today, starting VB I get a black screen with the shown error message and it hangs. So I can't get into VB settings for any reinstallation of the host only adapter. On ESC it drops back to desktop without further damage.

I guess that if nobody here knows the problem and an easy remedy, I will have to install the last of my weekly system images - could have done so in the first place, but I forgot about this, since I wasn't forced to do so for a very long time.

Well, thanks for considering - and mpack for his suggestions - flowe.

Feedback: as to be expected, system recovery from a 5 days old backup image did a nice job - all well again. Any backup prgm. with a timer will do it for you too! Regards - flowe
