Linux
Hi, I have a pair of problems with Virtualbox; first, when I wanna make a new machine I see just 32 bits O.S.; I installed Debian, but when I start the machine, the bios send this message and then doesn't go:
"[0.822280] Failed to access perfctr msr (MSR c0010004 is 0)

fsck from util-linux 2.25.2

Re: Linux
FAQ: I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests.
The journal part is from a dirty shut down and is repairing itself.
As for the rest it is a warning due to running Virtual and not on metal. These are considered to be false positives.

Re: Linux
Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.

Re: Linux
I have already explained the contents of that screen. The journal stuff is because the machine was shut down dirty and the SMBus is because it is running virtual and not on metal. So get that part out of you head.
- 1) did you install this guest or is it something that you got off the Internet?
2) if you installed the guest did you receive any errors while installing?
3) what is the exact make and version of the guest?

Re: Linux
I have just installed a clean version of the Debian 8.2 netinstall and it is working for me with no install issues.
Can you start the guest in recovery mode? ( see the advanced option at boot )

Re: Linux
That indicates a failed install. I would try to install again and watch closely to any messages that indicate an issue.
As far as VirtualBox is concerned it is not failing.
Note: I installed both the gnome and the cinnamon desktops at install time and they both function as they should. Keep in mind that until you install the guest additions your guest will run in software rendering mode but it should still boot.
