Windows Server 2012 Guest

Hello!
I recently installed windows server 2012 as a guest on my ubuntu server. I want this particular VM to run my VPN and file sharing as it will soon be the domain controller. The problem that I'm currently running into is with setting up my file sharing server. The location where I want my home folders located, as well as the other files I want to be located on the share aren't on the VM, and instead are located on the host machine. I set up permanent shared folders which allows my VM to see them, but because it sees it as a network drive, it isn't a location that I can choose to be apart of the share. Windows server 2012 only lets me share local locations. Does anyone have a fix for this? Currently, as a work around I'm having my linux server running samba but then I'm creating users on both servers.
Thank you!
