Can't update Windows 10

Hi

I am trying to update my Windows 10 Technical Preview installation from build 10240 to the latest, and it keeps freezing during the process - it downloads everything but then during the restart phase I get a black screen or window (depending which view mode I am in) and then it can only be restarted by a force quit. I am using Mac OS El Capitan as the host OS.

Can anyone help, please?

FWIW, there are a number of reports that Windows 10 Threshold 2 fails to install on metal so it stands to reason it may fail to install in a guest. You will have to search for possible fixes that work for some on metal. It's not a VirtualBox issue per se.

Would you believe it, having failed to get it to install five times, I did exactly the same thing a sixth time and it worked.

BTW, my Asus Zenbook which had Windows 10 Home installed, failed to update to Threshold 2 so I certainly was aware there are issues.
