Aborted

Post by Binome »

Hi,
my host is Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64.
My VB is 5.0.
My guest is Kubuntu 15.10 (the same with other versions).
The VM is often halted and appearing as aborted in the main VB window. What could I do?

Guest additions installed.
Memory: host=4GB guest=1GB
I don't have a log file for now.

5.0 may be too old for your guest. I would first upgrade to 5.0.10 and see if that helps.

Question, if the guest additions are really installed then you must have had the guest running at some point and there would be a log file. You didn't install the guest additions in the host did you?

And now I've got the same "aborted" problem with an Lubuntu VM. I've installed the GA too and it's aborting anytime I swap from the VB window to another application on the host OS. I give you the log.

Attach the vbox.log for one of the guests…
With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the VB GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

There is something wrong with your .zip file.

you didn't actually compress the file. you just added the .zip extension.

You're right. Here's the real .zip file.

FWIW, Microsoft released yet another botched update this past Tuesday, Take a look here…

I don't know if that's causing your problem but you might want to check it.

The vbox.log is incomplete. See if you can find one that is. If you can start a VM then shut it down first you should have one.

I can't install updates, it's my administrator decision.

I could run a VM entirely then close it correctly. The log is attached...

As far as the latest log, nothing stands out other than you're running near the minimum specs for the guest. You could try increasing the RAM for the guest to 1024MB and the VRAM to 32MB.

As far as your Kubuntu guest, if you are running it with similar specs that is too little RAM and VRAM. Also you may want to disable 3D acceleration if you have it enabled.

The problem could be caused by security software on the host but of course it didn't show in a successful session.

I've increased the RAM and VRAM in the Lubuntu VM but it's aborting all the same.
