VirtualBox as a notification area icon

I run VB on a Win7 host, with one Linux guest VM. This makes two taskbar icons: one for VB itself and one for the VM. The former I never really need to interact with, so is there a way to make the VB taskbar icon be in the 'notification area' instead of taking up space on my taskbar? (IOW where things like the clock and volume icon live.)

Thanks

There used to be a guest tray icon (see the stickies on the Windows Hosts forum) but it isn't developed anymore and is not compatible with Virtualbox 5.0.

The Virtualbox GUI listing the guests does not need to stay open to run a guest, go ahead and close it. You can right-click a guest in the GUI and create a desktop shortcut so you can start your guest without having to open the GUI. Either way should get you down to one taskbar button. (Note, if you enable multiple monitors for your guest, you get one taskbar button for each monitor.)

Yes I read the thread about VBoxHeadlessTray.

I was under the impression the VB window had to be running for the VM to run. Thanks for setting me straight.
