Trouble increasing vdi size

Post by dleach4512 »

Hi All!
Issue: I'm having trouble increasing the size of my virtual hard disk.

Details:
HOST is a Windows 7 PRO 64 bit machine, up to date and running MSE for AV. I'm got an AMD Athlon II @ 3 Ghz, and 20 GB of RAM.
GUEST is Windows 10. I created a Windows VM, installed Windows 7 PRO (same OS as the HOST), and upgraded to Windows 10 via that annoying update/notification box. Storage for this VM is SATA Port 0: Windows10.vdi (Normal, 32.00 GB). I have it set to dynamically expand.

I would like to increase the size of the vdi because the GUEST OS is running out of space. Using a post I found on this forum that I am not allowed to post the url of, I followed the directions and my results are below. I have posted the directions of the post below my results for reference.

Would someone please point me in the right direction for resolving this issue?

Could not find file for the medium 'C:\Users\DLeach\VirtualBox VMs\Windows 10\Windows10.vdi' (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)
Verify the absolute path because it appears not to exist.

Alright, I verified it, and i've inserted a link to a screenshot (which is apparently too large to attach here?!) for reference.

Did the guest use the same CD key as the host? This is just as an aside, but I hope you understand that this invalidates the activation of the host.

As to the error, the VM seems to be called "Windows 10", but you used a filename "Windows10.vdi" (missing space), and of course there is no such file.
