Installing VirtualBox 5.0.10 on Windows 10 (Fatal Error)

Apologies if this topic has already been addressed, but I was unable to find a complete resolution searching through the forums and other sites.

I'm attempting to install the latest Virtualbox (5.0.10) on Windows 10, but the installer continues to fail with the following error:

Oracle VM VirtualBox 5.0.10 Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time run Setup Wizard again. Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard.

I attempted to run the installer using the logging (-l) option on an administrator command prompt, which generated a log file (appData\local\Temp\VirtualBox\VboxInstallLog.txt), that lists the following error at the end:

DEBUG: Error 2888: Executing the TextStyle view failed
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2888. The arguments are: TextStyle, ,

Searching around I noticed that several people had luck disabling the networking portions of the installer, but it had no effect here.

i had the same issue with update 5.0.10.on window 7

Any recommendations from the community as to other log files that might assist with troubleshooting the issue or tips on options we can try to get the installer to work?

I should also mentioned that I attempted disabling A/Vs and various programs without any luck.

Similar issue (Fatal Error).
Windows 10 Pro / VirtualBox 5.0.10.

However, I think that the line DEBUG: Error 2888: Executing the TextStyle view failed is irrelevant - it looks to me as a minor problem with Fatal Error dialog after the real error happened. I can see a rollback procedure before it.

The first "error" in your case is related to USB driver - maybe trying to install with "VirtualBox USB Support" option disabled will work (just to confirm USB driver is a problem).

In my case there is an error installing Network interfaces. Disabling them made the installation process pass.
Still trying to find what is causing it...

Thanks! I think that did it. In case anyone is searching for a similar error, here's the line from the debug log:

I'm not sure if this will help in your case, but what I did to finish the installation was:

• 1) Open network connections and disconnect the wifi connection and turn it off
  2) Right Click on the Vbox installation file and "Run as Administrator"
  3) Disable the USB support feature in the installation options

I did not uncheck the network options in the installation and it completed successfully this time. I'll be able to test the features more after work to see if everything is functioning.

The only thing that worked for me was selecting "Entire feature will be unavailable" for the VirtualBox Networking part of the tree offered by the Custom Setup dialog.

Thankfully but somewhat surprisingly, NAT support appears to remain unmolested by this.
