Hello,
using VirtualBox 5.0.2 r102096, my USB shows on my Mint 17.2 host, however the Windows7 32-bit guest doesn't show the USB on Computer.
As per instructions https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch02. ... 4979497264 I have added the Linux host command $ sudo usermod -a -G vboxusers <usernameOfHostOS> and rebooted the host.
The Windows7 guest does show the USB in Devices > USB > Generic Mass Storage [0100], but nothing on the Windows Computer for me to work on the USB?

Re: USB not showing on Windows7 32-bit guest
Is the extension pack installed on the host?
Is it a USB3 device in a USB3 host port? Windows 7 has no native support for USB3 (xHCI), though third party drivers are available.

Re: USB not showing on Windows7 32-bit guest
Hi, it seems I need to install the extension for the USB 2 to work.
Problem is, the extension pack install doesn't work.
The Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.0.8-103449.vbox-extpack doesn't open, as per instructions https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01. ... installing

Re: USB not showing on Windows7 32-bit guest
Yes, USBx needs support in both the host and the guest. In the host, the extension pack must be installed (for USBx >= 2).
If you have a different problem then you should start another topic - or search for previous solutions.

Re: USB not showing on Windows7 32-bit guest
Okay, I installed the USB extension pack and the Windows 7 guest shows error:
Driver Software Installation
Device driver software was not successfully installed
Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed.
USB Mass Storage Device Failed.
I can select the Guest Windows 7 Devices > USB > Generic Mass Storage [0100], but nothing shows on the Computer.
When I untick the USB, the USB shows its contents on the host Mint 17.2 computer.

Re: USB not showing on Windows7 32-bit guest
Okay, fixed.
I think the issue was I couldn't find clear instructions on this step of many:
VirtualBox > Settings > USB > tick Enable USB Controller > select USB 2.0 (EHCI) Controller > OK.
