Ticket selection

How is a tickets selected for a version of VirtualBox?

The reason for asking is that I have an issue with shared folder and sharing violation which matches ticket 14450. However this ticket was created 3 months ago and nothing has happened. It has no priority or status or milestone. Just wanted to know if there is a chance this will be fixed anytime soon.

Cheers :-)

The devs don't give us a roadmap, but I'd guess that the tickets most likely to be fixed quickly are those where the issue is easily reproduced, and the fix is easy too. Bump the odds up if the issue is important to paying customers, or affects a lot of users. Assign a rational score to each of those factors, and you can calculate the odds that a given ticket will be addressed in the next monthly release.

What they clearly don't do is treat tickets as having any kind of strict order, which seems to be a subtle assumption of your question.

As a guess, since the OP didn't include any log files there is a good chance no one has looked at it. As far as when any issue will be fixed. There is no way to know.

Yep, "easily reproduced" usually requires that the issue is thoroughly documented... and if it barely documented at all then you can pretty much apply a factor of 0 to that term....

Of course Lars, if you are certain you have the same problem, you can add to the ticket and include at the very least the vbox.log for your guest. It most likely will increase the chances the developers will have a look dramatically.
