I've searched around a bit for this....but is there a way to backup and / or migrate virtual hosts from one machine to another? If so, could someone point me in the right direction of what i would need to do?

All you need to backup is the vdi file of the Guest, along with the settings for the VM. I would say it's a lot easier to either write it down or create screenshots of the most important settings. Those would be Hard Disk Emulation (PIIX3 or PIIX4), use of IOAPIC and the sorts on that page, and your network settings.
When you have those settings (network is just for convenience), you can open that VM everywhere in VB, as long as you set it correctly.
