Re: USB device not connected
You need to install VB 5.0.8 in order to have USB support with a OSX 10.11.1 host.

Re: USB device not connected
Hi, I already update VB to 5.0.8 but still failed to load USB. The error code is NS_ERROR_FALLURE 0x80004005loukingjr wrote:You need to install VB 5.0.8 in order to have USB support with a OSX 10.11.1 host.
What should I do to resolve this issue?

Did you install the extension pack for 5.0.8?

Re: USB device not connected
Attach the vbox.log for the guest.
With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the VB GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Re: USB device not connected
You will see in this thread (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=69179) and a few others on this forum and scattered around the net that many of us are having the same problem on 5.0.8 but unfortunately nobody official has chipped in anything on the topic. The official stance is that "USB for El Cap has been fixed in VB 5.0.8". You will find people repeating this and asking you to go thru the standard trouble shooting steps that you have no doubt tried already however your only real options are to wait for the next release of VB and cross your fingers, go back to Yosemite if u have a backup or use another host OS.

Re: USB device not connected
Just a couple of comments about USB support with VB 5.0.8 and OSX 10.11.*
1. OSX 10.11.* still has some USB issues all its own.
2. USB 2.0 and 3.0 hard drives, flash drives and Apple's Superdrive do work.
3. I cannot find an official statement "USB for El Cap has been fixed in VB 5.0.8". Certainly not in the sense that guarantees every USB device made will work.
As far as…

That is not the case. There are commercial hypervisor options available which may or may not work with all USB devices.van2222 wrote:your only real options are to wait for the next release of VB and cross your fingers, go back to Yosemite if u have a backup or use another host OS.

Re: USB device not connected
Did your USB device work with any version prior to 5.0.8? I ask because I notice that your guest is XP, which has no USB3 support. If it's a mass storage device then you can still access it as a shared folder.Ez2u4u wrote:Yes, my package version is 5.0.8r103449 but still failed to load usbloukingjr wrote:Did you install the extension pack for 5.0.8?

Yes, it works well on VM 4.3.32/Yosemitempack wrote:Did your USB device work with any version prior to 5.0.8? I ask because I notice that your guest is XP, which has no USB3 support. Re: USB device not connected
Please be less vague about what worked. Is it USB2 or USB3? Is it a mass storage device?
