Dual monitors not working (Windows 10 guest)

There are several threads with dual monitors not working with a Windows 10 host and a Linux guest.

I have a similar problem with a Windows 10 hosts and a Windows 10 guest. Even though I have set the monitors to 2, only one monitor appears.

I have tried detecting the additional monitor in the guest -- it detects only the primary monitor.

I have tied the view / virtual Screen 2 / Use host screen 2 to no effect.

Using Virtualbox 5.0.6
Host in Windows 10 64 bit. Guest is Windows 10 64 bit.
Log is attached. Only clue I could find in the log was the last 4 lines:

00:03:46.146784 GUI: UIMachineView::sltPerformGuestResize: Sending guest size-hint to screen 0 as 1080x1920
00:03:46.146806 VMMDev: SetVideoModeHint: Got a video mode hint (1080x1920x32)@(0x0),(1;0) at 0
00:03:46.146817 GUI: UIMachineView::sltPerformGuestResize: Sending guest size-hint to screen 1 as 640x480
00:03:46.146821 VMMDev: SetVideoModeHint: Got a video mode hint (640x480x0)@(0x0),(0;0) at 1

Thanks for any help!

Nick

If you're going to go with a new guest and host OS that still isn't officially supported, you really do need to keep to date with releases because things will be changing fast.

Try again with VirtualBox 5.0.8, and bring the Guest Additions up to date too - they are still on 4.3.30. Then we'll see where we are.

I hadn't updated to 5.0.8 because the changelog had nothing in it that seemed relevant. I have since updated, and the problem persists. Using the guest additions for 5.0.8 too. I'm not sure where you saw guest additions 4.3.30

An extra piece of information is that both monitors are in portrait mode -- could it be that portrait mode is not supported for some reason on the 2nd monitor.

I have upgraded to 5.0.10 (both core software and the extensions) and the problem persists.

Works fine with VB 5.0.14. You need to set the "Monitor count" to 2 though in "Settings - Display" of the VM.
