Keyboard sporadically responsive via RDP

Post by Bubbawny »

Hi folks:

I have an Ubuntu 15.04 VM. I recently started accessing it remotely via RDP (MSTSC->port 3390).

Frequently, the keyboard within the VM stops responding. The mouse continues to respond. When this happens, I have to restart the guest to restore keyboard functionality.

I am running 5.0.8 r103449 on a Windows machine with the corresponding extensions installed in the guest.

As long as I interact with the system, it's fine. But it seems as if I step away for a few minutes that the VM no longer accepts keyboard input and I have to use the mouse to restart the VM.

Any help or ideas on how to resolve this would be much appreciated!

Couple of things you can test and report back to help diagnose this.
  • 1) post the guests log file ( as an attachment )
    2) see if saving the state instead or rebooting brings the mouse back.
    3) make sure all power management in the guest is disabled and see if that stops the problem.

Thank you for the suggestions. Much appreciated.

Will check power mgt, etc. and report back results.
