Hi. Out of desperation because everyone seems to have stopped making products that will work with Mac OS to receive U.S. broadcast television signals, I purchased the Hauppauge 955Q and am running Windows 10 via VirtualBox on my Mac.
I encountered and solved a number of problems and have gotten to the point where the Hauppauge WinTV software is installed and seems to work, and the virtual machine seems to recognize and operate the device. The problem now is that, when WinTV scans for channels, it finds nothing. I live in an urban area and have connected an "amplified indoor antenna" from GE to the WinTV device. so the signal should be there. Any thoughts?
By the way, I've also posted this to the Hauppauge support forum, but when I called Hauppauge this morning the rep speculated that the real problem is that the virtual machine is not properly operating the USB device on some technical level. Could that be so?

Anything is possible. In any case operating physical devices is not really the forte of a Virtual Machine. I would doubt that something as I/O hungry as a TV receiver would work well in a VM.
I'll let a Mac expert comment on how best to avoid USB conflicts with the OS X host.
