Firefox freezes host and guest (win10 host, OpenSUSE guest)

Post by GoldenGnu »

Hi,

I'm having some problems with getting OpenSUSE to work properly on my win10 host:
Whenever I lunch some sites in Firefox both host and guest freezes temporarily.
If I have Spotify playing on the host, it will shutter the audio.
I have 2 installations of OpenSUSE 13.2, one with KDE and one with GNOME, this problem happens on both.
Everything else appear to works okay, but, I haven't used it a lot, I have mostly used the console

I have a Ubuntu guest, as well, and it works without any problems at all...

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Extra Info (I was not sure what I should include, so, I included as much as possible, just ask if you need more info):

What I have tried:
-Disable 3D acceleration
-Disable sound card
-Re-install guest addition (from included guest CD)
None of them worked.

As a guess you are over-committing memory. 3GB assigned to a guest is too high on an 8GB host.

Attach the vbox.log for the guest…
With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the VB GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Thanks for the quick reply :)

File attached - I hope I did it right...

EDIT: Doesn't look like I'm using all my RAM, it stays at about 60-90% on system usage, but, I could be wrong

Try reducing the guest RAM to 2GB. A guest shouldn't really be set to more than 50% of the available memory.

edit: I see you did according to the log.

Did you try running it since you've reduced the RAM?

i tried with 2GB, but, it happened again.

It happens when I load this side: oracle dot com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html in firefox (I can't post links, sorry)
I attached a new log, as I'm sure this one include the problem...

I think we need a second opinion. I don't notice anything obvious.
Does Gnome work with 2GB?

Tried it on GNOME as well, same thing, happens again. Log attached.
I think there may be less freezing, on both KDE and GNOME with less RAM (I'm not really sure).
but, spotify still shutter when loading the side and the guest is unresponsive while the side loads.

Thank you for your help, even though, it didn't end fixing the problem :)

no problem. it's odd it only shows up on one site. if you aren't running Spotify on the host does it also freeze?
