I am trying to install 32 bit Windows 7 on a Macbook Pro 2015 (Yosemite 10.10.5) from an external optical drive. The optical drive is getting picked up on the OS X desktop and when I run through the installation process it installs the virtual machine but then it won't boot the windows disk I have in the optical drive, I keep getting this error -

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Win7.

AHCI: Failed to attach drive to Port1 (VERR_GENERAL_FAILURE).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}

I could not find anything by putting in the full or partial error message into the search field in this forum?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Can you clarify what you mean here…
The optical drive is getting picked up on the OS X desktop and when I run through the installation process it installs the virtual machine but then it won't boot the windows disk I have in the optical drive, I keep getting this error -
Are you saying you successfully created a Windows 7 guest but the guest can't read disks in the optical drive or the Windows 7 guest won't boot?
