Can not drag and drop into Kali2

Post by Amputeez79 »

I am trying to drag and drop a .zip file in documents in Kali2 but as soon as I release the button to drop Kali goes into abort mode. I have attached the log as well as the commands executed. Thank you Rob

You have VB 4.3.32 installed along with the 4.3.32 extension pack but the 5.0.2 version of the guest additions.
VirtualBox VM 4.3.32 r103443 win.amd64
Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack (Version: 4.3.32 r103443
00:00:26.507007 Guest Additions information report: Version 5.0.2 r102096 '5.0.2'
They should match.*

I don't know if it matters but you have the guest OS set to Debian but I think Kali is based on Ubuntu.

Actually it lists both. Not sure why.

I just went down to the ver 4.3.32 because someone in the forum said i need to change my version ver. I had vb 5.2 and ext pack of 5.06 but that was the only one available for the 5.2 on oracle website so i went down to make them the same. I think the debian if fine the instructions came from my prof and other people are having no issue

I see. That explains that. I think I'll let someone more familiar with Linux to help you sort things out.
btw, you posted in the wrong section. This is for Windows Guests. You are asking about a Linux Guest.

Thank you,
I upgraded to vbox 5.2 and the ext pack of 5.6 which is what Oracle calls for with the Ver 5.2

Um, no it doesn't. The VB version, extension pack and guest additions should really match. And the current version of VB is 5.0.8.

3D acceleration in the guest settings. Make sure it's disabled.
