Graphic Adapter: Attempted upgrade from Win7 to Win 10 error

Host: OS X.10.5 (Yosemite)
Guest: Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1.7601 SP1 Build 7601

I want to update to Windows 10 on this virtual machine. I have the "Get Windows 10" icon showing in the task bar. When I click it, I get a message that "This PC can't run Windows 10". "Here's why Windows 10 can't be installed on this PC: VirtualBox Graphic Adapter. The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10."

The first time I tried to install I got that message. Then I went to http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-get-virt ... ild-10041/ and saw that for a clean install of Windows 10 in a new VM, the author said one needs to click the boxes for "Extended Features: 3D Acceleration" and "Extended Features: 2D Video Acceleration". So I shut down the VM, went to Settings > Display and checkmarked them. I rebooted the VM and tried again to "Get Windows 10" with the same result.

I don't want to install in a clean VM simply because I have a Win7 OEM license for this machine, and with the update to Win10 it'll just transfer over.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Edit: I failed to mention I'm using VB 5.0.0 (r101573). I see now that a newer version is out, but somehow I doubt that will help, but I'll try it.

Wow! Nobody knows the solution! Maybe that means I just need to stay with Win7 and avoid the invasive tracking in Windows 10. :D

Ahem. Or, failing that, read one of the many previous discussions on this issue that none of us can be bothered to discuss yet again. Only... I would normally expect to find discussions of a Windows Guest issue in the Windows Guest forum, strange as that may sound.

Well, I don't post very often, so my 30-some posts hasn't quite provided me with the experience to know whether to post under the "host" rubric or the "guest" one. I figured since I was on a Mac OSX host, that it was OK to post there. I do think, though, now that you mention it, that since the problem seems to be with the guest, not host, that I should have chosen the Windows guest forum.

When I first ran into the problem, I did try to search the forums for any relevant info. I couldn't find anything. Again, it may be (probably is) my lack of experience searching the forums or formulating my queries.

Thanks at least for the hope that there might in fact be an answer – somewhere.

Edit: Until I just went to search the guest forums, I didn't even know they existed as a separate section not in "General." Nonetheless, having been humbled for my ignorance, I successfully entered a query for "Graphic Adapter Windows 10", and I still found nothing useful. Some has a similar issue, I think (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=69423&p=331066&hili ... 10#p331066), but it doesn't look as if that user found a solution either.

Did the topic stickied at the top of that forum, entitled Cannot force update to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Pro (Guest) not help?

Thank you once again, mpack! I did not see it. Best I can tell, it's lost its stickiness now. And my searches didn't yield anything. I didn't know I wanted to "force" something :) Now I see it, I'll try to follow its directions. I appreciate your patience with me and your help.
