Hi,
I have been trying to set up Virtualbox for the past few days. systems install fine but i don't have network connection on the guest OS.
I am using win 8.1, guest OS is win7.
Host has network access (obviously). Guest does not.
Guest use Intel Pro/1000 MT desktop with nat.
I can ping successfully ip addresses and domain (tried with 8.8.8.8 and google dot fr), but i don't have a web access with a web browser.
Host use latest Virtualbox version (5.0.8 ). Latest Guest addition are installed on the guest.
Uninstalling and installing V4.3 does not change anything.
My network card is a Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
I'm unsure what other information could be useful to provide, but in any case, thank you !
EDIT : Disabled firewall and antivirus software on both host and guest : no change.
Nat not working on win 8.1 host + win 7 guest
Re: Nat not working on win 8.1 host + win 7 guest
Nobody has an idea why this does not work ?
Re: Nat not working on win 8.1 host + win 7 guest
Not much I can provide but the basics:
--Check the end-user documentation, including the User FAQ and the How To's and Tutorials
--Especially check if your host OS has any VPN software installed. From my minimal reading, VirtualBox does not play well with VPNs on the host.
--Try your other networking modes to see if you have any workarounds. In my case (Windows 7 host OS with a company-provided VPN client, CentOS Linux guest), NAT quit working after upgrading past 4.3.6 to work with Ubuntu as a guest OS. My workaround is using Bridged Adapter. I can no longer use NAT to reach my corporate network via VPN, but I have internet access.
