Corrupt vmdk file - VD: error VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_HEADER

I recently had my VM crash and when I went to restart the VM, I received the information below.

I have tried to mount the drive but no luck, I receive the same message.

Any help with recovering the vmdk will be greatly appreciated.

ERROR MESSAGE:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine ROS Indigo Common 64.

Could not open the medium 'C:\Users\larmstrong\VirtualBox VMs\ROS Indigo Common 64\ROS Indigo Common 64_v1-disk2.vmdk'.

VMDK: descriptor does not start as expected in 'C:\Users\larmstrong\VirtualBox VMs\ROS Indigo Common 64\ROS Indigo Common 64_v1-disk2.vmdk' (VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_HEADER).

VD: error VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_HEADER opening image file 'C:\Users\larmstrong\VirtualBox VMs\ROS Indigo Common 64\ROS Indigo Common 64_v1-disk2.vmdk' (VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_HEADER).

Sorry, vmdk is a "foreign" format, and I'm not aware of any reservoir of knowledge around here that would help you to diagnose and repair a damaged file, unless of course you have a backup of it.

VMDK is a VMWare standard, so perhaps you will find expertise on a VMWare site.

Thank you for the prompt response. I will try vmware forums and see if they have a solution.
