Issue with CPU consumption on a Windows 10 Guest

Hi everyone, I need some help with a problem that's been plaguing me for the past month. I have a Windows 10 guest which I use for development using Visual Studio, and the performance is just painful (always was, since day 1). Even dragging windows around the screen stutters. I believe this is a video issue but after scouring the internet and reading endless posts and blogs, I have to decided to make an account and ask for help. I'm using f=24&t=48476 as the post template.


Virtual Box version: 5.0.6 r103037
Guest Additions Installed: Yes
Host: Windows 10 Pro, (Build 10240) 64 bit - 24 GB RAM, Intel Core i7-920 (QUAD CORE) @ 3.6 GHz
Guest: Windows 10 Pro, (Build 10240) 64 bit - 8 out of 24 GB RAM, 2 out of 4 Cores assigned, running on 500GB RAID-1

What I noted so far:
I had a Windows 7 (non-legit) which ran wonderfully without any problems. But since I'm working on a project that will operate on a device running Windows 10 IOT, I upgraded (legit) to Windows 10, to be closer to operating environment.
The VBoxHardening.log is spammed with entries like "supR3HardenedMonitor_LdrLoadDll: returns rcNt=0x0 hMod=00007ffbee4e0000 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\OPENGL32.dll'"
Simple tasks like opening Performance Monitor, nails the CPU consumption to 100%. Even programs like "Virtual Box Gues Additions Tray Application" consume an abnormal amount of processing power.

I would be grateful, if someone can look into this, because my development time is considerably being slowed

EDIT 1:
I upgraded the Nvidia drivers on the Host machine to the latest version available
I re-installed the Guest Additions on the Guest machine (I re-ran the Guest Addition installation without an uninstall)
What I noted:
CPU now idles at roughly 2% while debugging
Disk 0 (VBOX HARDDISK) Average response time has from ~2000ms gone down to ~60ms from preliminary analysis.
Results:
Machine is running noticeably faster. I can code TypeScript without any lag.
